Ur-World is a resource gathering, city building, and economic simulation that is 100% controlled by the players!

The only NPC's in the game are animals. Because of this players players start the game with currency. That's right, this isn't your typical MMO where you start with nothing and have to build your way up. In Ur-World you start with some currency that feeds the 100% player driven economy.

Ur-World is basically a zero sum game. Meaning money doesn't come out of thin air like other MMO's. In Ur-World all the money that will ever be on the server comes from the players that are on the server since they start with a chunk of money. This means money is circulated by the players. I say "basically" at the start of this paragraph because the "government" (me) can inject money in creative ways if we see the economy really hurting. This might be in the form of random treasure chests or an in game lottery system. However, this will be voted on IF we notice hard times striking a server.

In Ur-World you can purchase plots of land (1 tile = 1 plot) so that you can harvest the resources on said land and also build on said land, allowing you to own your own business and become a powerful figure in Ur-World.

The buildings in Ur-World will be pre-designed buildings that server specific purposes to help the economy. An example building might be a lumbermill to process wood. Wood can be processed by hand but it's a painful and slow process. A lumbermill will speed up this process. As the owner of a lumbermill you can set your prices to process wood. Anyone willing to pay this price can come to your lumbermill (while you are online or offline) and use your buildings service on their wood. After validation of currency and a short amount of time, the lumbermill will process the players wood into lumber which can now be used to build things. You collect your fee, and everyone is happy. This is the way things work in Ur-World. Many things will be able to be done by hand but buildings will make doing those things more efficient but for a fee to the owner of course. Smile

Your character in Ur-World has certain needs. These needs have to be met or your efficiency in performing actions is severely hindered. Keeping these needs met is the driving force in the economy. An example need measurement would be Hunger. Your character needs to eat (but it's automatic so as to not waste your time in game). Most needs have sub-needs as well. Hunger has some sub-needs that make up the larger Hunger need. The idea is variety. You can't just eat corn your entire life and expect to live a happy and fulfilled life, so the sub-needs to the Hunger need is all about variety in food. You must have meat, dairy, grains, fruits, veggies, and even sweets in your inventory at all times to maximize your Hunger need. Any lack of these and your Hunger need will suffer which will bring down your overall "Health" which will make you less efficient in everything you do.

This brings up a good point. You cannot die in Ur-World. This is not a killing game. You only become less efficient in everything you do, which does make it harder to dig yourself out of a hole if you let yourself get into one. So it's very important that you meet your characters needs while building this community.
